Where sorted clips go

By default every raw folder feeds one library, %USERPROFILE%\Videos\ClipSweep, with a folder per key: KEEPERS, STARRED, and each sort folder you keep. Choose “Beside my clips” during setup and the folders are created next to the source folder instead. Change it any time from Settings.

Sorted folders stay out of later scans. A name collision gets a numbered suffix (_1, _2, …). Settings, decision history, trial progress, and Broomies live in %APPDATA%\ClipTriage, outside the app folder, so replacing the app folder keeps them.

Formats ClipSweep plays: MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, WebM, FLV. If a clip will not play, ClipSweep says so and offers to skip it or send it to the Recycle Bin.

Delete, undo, and what stays local

D always uses the Windows Recycle Bin. ClipSweep has no permanent-delete command and never empties the bin. You decide when anything is gone for good.

Z reverses the last decision, one per press, unlimited within the session. A moved clip returns to its source folder. A recycled clip is restored through Windows, and ClipSweep tells you if a manual restore is needed. Once the session ends, a sorted clip is an ordinary file you can move back yourself.

Video contents, filenames, folder paths, and sorting history never leave your PC. The privacy page lists the two network requests the app does make.

ClipSweep asking whether to end the session and switch folders, warning that starting a new session clears Undo and suggesting Z first.
Switching folders is guarded: the app says a new session clears Undo, and offers Z first.

Set up for what you are actually sorting

The first launch asks which setup fits: gaming clips, home videos, or your own folders and letters. Redo setup from Settings whenever you want to change it.

ClipSweep first-launch setup with three choices: Home videos, Gaming clips, and Something else, each listing its keys.
The first launch asks what you are sorting. Every step can be replayed later with Redo setup.

The remaining questions

Does the app work offline?
The free trial needs no connection. Full Edition checks its key when it starts and about once an hour while open, and keeps working through an outage for up to 14 days after a successful check. A new activation needs internet access once.
What does the update check send?
ClipSweep reads the current release tag from its public GitHub Releases feed. No video or sorting data is attached to that request. The privacy page lists every network request the app makes.
What happens if I rescan a folder?
Folders that ClipSweep created for sorted clips stay out of later scans, so a clip you already sorted is not offered again.
What if two clips have the same name?
The newcomer gets a numbered suffix (_1, _2, …). Nothing is overwritten.
What happens when I hold Shift?
Shift with R, S, or any folder key opens a rename box. Type the new name, press Enter, and the clip goes to that folder under that name. Shift + D is deliberately not a shortcut.
Is there a Mac or Linux version?
No. ClipSweep 1.8.0 is Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit only.
What is a Broomie?
Every successful sorting decision earns one Broomie. Twenty Broomies raise your level, and a non-blocking prompt lets you keep sweeping or conclude the session. Undo takes the matching Broomie back.
What is the chime?
Each successful decision plays a short two-note chime the app generates itself. At every five-minute mark a small confetti shower appears above the bottom bar, and finishing a queue drops a confetti burst over the session summary.
